WordPress is often the top of the funnel; Salesforce is where pipeline lives. Plugins for Contact Form 7, WPForms, or Gravity Forms can push leads quickly—until you need conditional routing, bidirectional sync, or WooCommerce revenue events with proper consent.
When a plugin is enough
- One-way create Lead/Contact from a form submit.
- Stable field map under ~20 fields.
- No complex duplicate rules beyond Salesforce matching.
- Low volume (< a few hundred submits/day).
If that is your world, buy a maintained plugin, lock settings, and monitor failed deliveries.

Consent and compliance
Capture marketing consent as a discrete field. Do not silently subscribe people because they downloaded a PDF. Pass the timestamp and source URL into Salesforce for audit.

- Assert idempotent resubmits.
- Simulate API 401/503 and verify retries.
- Verify person-account vs lead record types for your org.
